THE 17TH ASIA-PACIFIC ASSEMBLY HAS ENDED WITH GREAT SUCCESS

17TH ASIA-PACIFIC ASSEMBLY

With the warmest welcome and hospitality from the local co-hosts, East Japan Railway Company and Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd., the 17th UITP Asia Pacific Assembly, with the theme 'Quest for Quality and Quantity' was held successfually in Tokyo, from 8 to 10 November 2017.

The Assembly had a record attendance of 203 participants from 13 countries around the world. The event provided a rich content consisting of a Welcome Reception, one day scientific forum followed by an Official Dinner. A keynote speech was given by Professor Katsuhiro NISHINARI from the University of Tokyo, who has delivered his interesting research and findings on traffic jam, namely “Jamology - interdisciplinary research on transportation and jams” at the beginning of the forum. Other speakers have also shared their experiences and opinions on Asia Pacific's journey to openly innovate and promote people-centric public transport systems across 4 unique sessions. In addition, the Assembly ended with a half-day Technical Visit with the choices of Tokyo Metro's Comprehensive Learning & Training Center, JR East's Tokyo General Rolling Stock Center, and Basuta Shinjuku & Echika Omotesando.
