The 2nd Meeting of UITP Asia-Pacific Organising Authority Platform (AP OAP) was successfully held in Kuala Lumpur on September 18th and 19th, 2017, hosted by Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).
Building on the contributions from the 1st Meeting and the group projects currently under-going, five authority members from Malaysia, Singapore, Shanghai and Taipei continued to discuss and share about their common challenges and public transport policies. AP OAP Members welcomed Malaysia Ministry of Transport and Greater Jakarta Transportation Authority as invited guest.
SPAD invited YB Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, to start the meeting by presenting the transformation and developments of Malaysia’s Public Transport Systems. Bold visions for the country and the Greater Kuala Lumpur place public transport at the heart of the nation’s mobility and economic systems.
The meeting included topics on enhancing public transport attractiveness, use and sharing of data, challenges in the rise of new mobility and especially e-hailing services. In addition to collaborating sharing sessions, SPAD organised a half-day technical visit where attendees visited the recently opened first fully automated Mass Rapid Transit line and its command centre in Kuala Lumpur.
The Asia-Pacific Organising Authority Platform will be holding its 3rd Meeting in Taipei in March 2018 to continue the great efforts contributed to the topics discussed in previous meetings.
