Local Hosts
The Agence métropolitaine de transport is responsible for the planning, coordination, integration and promotion of public transport in Greater Montréal. Its streamlining role centres particularly on the integration of fares and redistribution of metropolitan financing. It also oversees the operation of commuter trains and the metropolitan bus network and the planning of development projects.
Originally operating horse-drawn tramways from 1861, the Société de transport de Montréal, a public corporation, serves the mobility needs of residents and visitors in Montréal by operating four metro lines serving 68 stations and 219 bus lines covering the 500km² territory on the island of Montréal. The metro system alone provides more than 1.3 million passenger trips each day.
